Dystopian Short Form Series EL COLAPSO Premieres February 10 Exclusively on ViX+
MIAMI – February 8, 2023– ViX+, the subscription-based premium tier of ViX streaming service, announced today that EL COLAPSO (THE COLLAPSE), an adaptation of the French dystopian miniseries L’Effondrement will premiere on February 10. The short form apocalyptic eight-part series features an all-star cast including Adriana Paz, Armando Hernandez, Enrique Arrizon, Flavio Medina, Gustavo Sanchez Parra, Ianis Guerrero, Iran Castillo, Kristyan Ferrer, Osvaldo Benavides, Tiare Scanda, and Ximena Lamadrid, among others.
EL COLAPSO is an intense and gripping series that explores the societal consequences of a complete collapse of a city’s financial, technological, political, and environmental systems. Told from the perspectives of a diverse group of characters, the eight standalone episodes are filmed in one continuous shot by Perro Azul and directed by Julián de Tavira,Carlos Lenin, and José Manuel Cravioto. The series is executive produced by Diego Rabasa, Julian de Tavira, Gina Cifuentes, Mariana Franco and J.M. Cravioto, and written by Diego Rabasa. All episodes of EL COLAPSO will drop at once on ViX+:
Episode 1: “The Supermarket” – Omar will have to decide between running away with his girlfriend Julia and his friends or staying at his job and with his family in the face of the food crisis in the city. Cast: Enrique Arrizon, Ana Valeria Becerril.
Episode 2: “The Gas Station” – Maribel and her family are trading food for fuel on the outskirts of town. The equilibrium is broken when a policeman skips the line and forces them to full up his squad car’s tank. Cast: Osvaldo Benavides, Gustavo Sánchez Parra, Mercedes Hernández.
Episode 3: “The Airplane” – A wealthy businessman, Lucio, receives an emergency call: he has 13 minutes to get to the airfield and take the last flight to an island-refuge in the face of imminent social catastrophe. Cast: Armando Hernández, Isabel Burr, Ianis Guerrero.
Episode 4: “The Village” – In the face of urban collapse, a group of people arrive in a self-sufficient rural community to seek refuge. Leading the group is Manuel, an old acquaintance from the community. Eligio, the community leader, reluctantly agrees to temporarily host the group while the council decides if the space and food are sufficient to accommodate the newcomers. Cast: Juan Carlos Medellin, Mariana Gajá, Iran Castillo, Osvaldo Benavides.
Episode 5: “The Refinery” – More than two months have passed since the collapse and the effects are still seen everywhere. A power outage causes an explosion at a refinery. The station chief, Noé, will push his forces to the limit in the face of the emergency, risking not only his life, but also that of his own daughter. Cast: Flavio Medina, Ximena Lamadrid.
Episode 6: “The Asylum” – Marco struggles to keep a group of elderly people alive in a nursing home. When the violence from outside reaches the compound, Marco will have to face the limits of human empathy and solidarity to help his patients in a desperate situation with no alternatives. Cast: Kristyan Ferrer, Paloma Woolrich.
Episode 7: “The Island” – Aboard a sailboat, Soledad navigates a race against time as she finds a way to reach a high-tech island where she has secured a place to get to safety. Cast: Adriana Paz.
Episode 8: “The Press Conference” – Jacobo and a group of environmental activists plan to boycott the event of the Secretary of the Environment to use the media platform and alert the government about the imminent collapse of the system, but things get complicated upon reaching the site. Cast: José María de Tavira, Mayra Hermosillo.
