LA USURPADORA, THE MUSICAL Starring Isabella Castillo, Alan Estrada, and Valentina Premieres on June 15 exclusively on ViX
MIAMI – June 5, 2023 – ViX, the world’s leading Spanish-language streaming service in the world, premieres on its platform LA USURPADORA, THE MUSICAL after its great premiere on the big screen. This musical adaptation of one of the most popular soap operas of all time comes to ViX on June 15.
LA USURPADORA, THE MUSICAL is an original musical film set in México and the United States recounted with Latin music hits from the 90s.
The film stars Isabella Castillo, (“El Señor de los Cielos,” “Malverde: El Santo Patrón”) who plays identical twins Valeria and Victoria, and Alan Estrada (“¿Conoces a Tomás?,” “Día de Muertos”), who plays the male lead and romantic interest, Carlos Daniel. It’s a tale of two identical twin sisters separated at birth and unknown to each other, one poor, but truly decent, the other rich, conniving, and generally awful. A chance meeting brings them together in Las Vegas and soon their lives are hopelessly intertwined.
In addition to Isabella and Alan, the film features a stellar supporting cast that includes Susana Zabaleta (“Sexo, pudor y lágrimas”), Jesús Ochoa (“Overboard,” “¿Qué culpa tiene el niño?”), Cecilia Toussaint (“Amor de barrio”), Valentina (“Rupaul´s Drag Race,” “Rent”) and Alejandra Ley (“Vencer el pasado”) with special appearances by Alejandra Guzmán (“El Juego de las Llaves”) and Shane West (“Gotham,” “A Walk to Remember”).
Featuring dialogue and music in both Spanish and English, LA USURPADORA, THE MUSICAL is full of humor, emotion, and great storytelling, all underscored by Latin hits including “La Vida Es Un Carnaval,” “Mi Tierra,” “Dame Otro Tequila,” “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” “Vuelve,” “Con Zapatos de Tacón,” “Cosas Del Amor,” among many others.
LA USURPADORA, THE MUSICAL is an adaptation of one of the most successful soap operas of all time – broadcast in over 125 countries and translated into 24 languages in the late 90’s.
Directed by Santiago Limón (“Cindy La Regia,” “Rebelde”) who also co-wrote the script along with María Hinojos(“Mirreyes vs Godinez”), award-winning music producer Sebastian Krys, winner of 8 GRAMMY® awards and 12 Latin Grammy® awards, choreographer Priscilla Hernández, who has created spectacular sequences like the Day of the Dead parade in “James Bond: Specter” and “Bardo”, and producer Matt Walden, a former Columbia Pictures, Fox and Arista Records executive, who oversaw the music for “Waiting to Exhale” and “Romeo+Juliet” and was part of the key creative team on Santana’s Supernatural.
