MIAMI – FEBRUARY 02, 2022 – ViacomCBS International Studio’s hit series, Pequeñas Victorias, was honored with a GLAAD Media Awards nomination in the Outstanding Spanish-Language Scripted Television Series category. The series is produced by VIS in association with Oficina Burman (The Mediapro Studio) and premiered in the U.S. and Latin America in August 2021 exclusively on Amazon Prime Video and on free to air channel Telefe. “We want our content to be a benchmark of diversity, reflecting different realities and helping to foster an inclusive environment where the multitude of voices in our audiences are heard,” said Federico Cuervo, SVP of VIS Americas.
“Content is a powerful tool that helps usher in a more diverse and inclusive world.” “Pequeñas Victorias reflects emotional realities, where the characters, diverse in their universes, go through conflicts that transcend a reductionist view of the genre,” commented Daniel Burman, CEO of Oficina Burman (The Mediapro Studio). “The identity crisis experienced by the members of this diverse family exceeds the limits of definitions and prejudices.” Based on an original idea by Erika Halvorsen and Daniel Burman, Pequeñas Victorias is directed by Juan Taratuto, and is written by Juan Taratuto, Mara Pescio, and Matías Scartascini. The second season stars Julieta Díaz, Natalie Pérez, Mariana Genesio, along with Facundo Arana, Alan Sabbagh Juan Leyrado, Miriam Odorico, Lola Loyacono and Joaquin Rescigno. The story picks up with Victoria (Lola Loyacono) starting school and the mothers dealing with personal situations and conflicts they avoided during the first few years of the child’s life. Jazmín (Julieta Díaz), Bárbara (Natalie Pérez), and Emma (Mariana Genesio) will now have to go through a voyage of self-discovery and reconcile their identities with their roles as Victoria’s mothers. In 2020, the first season of the Pequeñas Victorias was awarded the Rose D’Or Award, one of the most important international awards in the industry, in the Best Telenovela category.
The series was also nominated for the International Emmy® Awards. This is the VIS’s second nomination to the GLAAD Media Awards, which recognizes media for fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of LGBTQIA+ people and issues. Since its inception in 1990, the GLAAD Media Awards have grown to be the most visible annual LGBTQIA+ awards show globally, sending powerful messages of acceptance to audiences all over the world. This year the awards ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on April 2 and in New York on May 6.
